Barbershop owner hangs up shears after nearly six decades of cutting hair

Jim Graboski of Jim’s Barber Shop first started cutting hair in 1956 in a shop located in the area known then as “Devil’s Elbow” — what most people would now simply call the square.

Almost six decades and countless haircuts later, Graboski is set to hang up his shears at the end of the month, ready to hand the reins to another barber — also named Jim.

Graboski, the 76-year-old shop owner, will retire Dec. 28, leaving behind generations of satisfied customers in the Stevens Point area, many of whom Graboski considers family…
