Amanda Duffy, winner of the Fall 2014 BCL Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Basic Program scholarship, has a successful career as a Broadway Hairdresser for over 12 years. Amanda recalls her childhood; sneaking away into her bathroom with her mother’s makeup to experiment and play as young girls do. After being caught one day, her mother surprised her and sent her to finishing school, where she learned how to properly set her hair and makeup.

This was the first introduction Amanda had to the world of beauty. She applied her newly learned techniques and became the unofficial beautician of her high school! At the same time, Amanda began participating in her high school’s theater program and proceeded to major in theater arts in college. Once graduating from college, she applied and was selected to participate in an internship within the Wig-making and Stage-Makeup department at the legendary Julliard School. Since then she has held a long lasting career in Broadway within the Hairdressing and Makeup department.

Amanda wants to be a master in her craft and therefore attend cosmetology school is a necessity. Thanks to Beauty Changes Lives and the Vidal Sassoon scholarships, Amanda has received a scholarship and will attend the Arrojo Cosmetology School in NY.
