Barbershop Literacy Project

Cleveland, OH news station “Fox-8” reports on a growing program in Cleveland, Ohio within the barbershop community. The literacy project is currently extended to over twenty barbershops and its goal is to promote the fundamentals of reading to the children that enter each business.

Developing a reading corner within these barbershops enables barbers to truly be an integral part of the community outside of supplying a weekly haircut, as barbers become mentors to those with limited male role-models.

We congratulate the participating barbershops in Ohio and hope this reading corner becomes a nationwide trend.
