At 17, Trey Songz wasn’t just singing into a hairbrush, he was using one to learn the ropes at barber school. And in this sneak peek from “When I Was 17,” the “Can’t Help But Wait” crooner confesses he may have committed a “Guy Code” violation while trying to perfect his craft.

“I actually used to arch my girlfriend’s eyebrows. Don’t judge me,” he admits in the video below. Regardless of his grooming faux pas, there was a major upside to being in the beauty biz. “It got me cool points, you know what I mean?” he says with a sly smirk. Too bad the popular hairstyle of the time was, in hindsight, the least cool look ever. “By the time he was in barber school, no one should have been wearing a Jheri curl,” his mom sneers…
