FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Circle of Sisters 2014 – 2nd Time Attendee Comes Away Impressed.. Again!
New York, NY – October 4th – 5th, 2014
Barbinc.com was attending Circle of Sisters 2014 for the first time and we wanted the perspective of a Regular Attendees who were also a women of color…. So we invited Antonia Allen and Sasha Pyrce to give their perspectives. Antonia was attending for the First time while Sasha had attended 5 year ago and so could see the changes over time.
This is Sasha's Story…
My first experience at WBLS’s Circle of Sisters (COS) was in 2009… I had always heard WBLS advertise their annual expo, Circle of Sisters on the radio but was only mildly interested. However when Steve Harvey’s book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man was published in 2009 and I heard he was having an event at Circle of Sisters that year to promote his book, my interest was drastically peaked.
My college girlfriend and I agreed we wanted to attend his morning event and then cruise COS to check it out. I woke up full of energy that Saturday morning, excited for Steve Harvey and to attend my first COS event. Steve Harvey’s Live event started early that morning and proceeded the actual start of COS. I arrived, met my girlfriend and we filed in with a host of other beautiful people and filled that auditorium with ease.
Show time, Steve Harvey enters and it was magical. He joked with us, spoke about his book, gave us real-world advice on relationships, hard facts and answered so many questions. Being at this event was unbelievable and I am happy to say, I am glad I did not miss it! Both my girlfriend and I left that auditorium that morning feeling educated and blessed.
We cruised around that Circle of Sister’s event floor and again were impacted with nothing but love. Vendors, lots of great buys, it was just amazing. I came away from that event with so many hard to find buys, unique and still with me 5 years later.

Fast forward to 2014, I’m returning with my cousin Antonia who is attending for the first time and I’m just as excited as her. I’m excited to see her reaction and to experience it all over again. To my surprise, the event space was bigger and offered so much more that I remember from my first visit. Vendors, vendors, vendors, not to mention a host of panels, activities and a man cave!
My cousin and I cruised the event floor, purchased some great buys and happened upon the Celebrity Couples Revealed panel moderated by Lenny Green and Lance Gross. It included guests Niecy Nash & Jay Tucker, Tina Campbell, Rebecca & Terry Crews, Tamela & David Mann and Leon. We went in and it was a great time; these couples were not only people with whom I had seen on TV but were people I admired and looked up to. They shared their stories, hardships and accomplishments with being public couples. It was an amazing time.
My cousin and I left Circle of Sister 2014 again feeling educated and blessed. I will not let another 5 years go by before I return, it has now become apart of my yearly cannot miss events!
